I'd say that Childhood's End by Sir Arthur would be a given.
I would too! I think the panel is weighted toward more recent SF, which makes it harder.
Neuromancer recent enough?
Hard to say, but I'm going to bring it up anyway. This month is the 25th anniversary of its composition, so it will probably be older than most of the people in the room. So now it's like part of their DNA at this point. Which is my seque into Childhood's End!! Problem solved.
I read a lot of SF as a younger kid, read little now, but just read (on Steve's recommendation) Engine Summer, which was, as promised, just about perfect. And it certainly would have changed my life had I read it at the right age. I regret not doing so.
