I have a new short story up at Granta: "Top Secret."
Brief liner notes:
- It was written for "Writers in Drag," an offshoot of the Writers With Drinks series. The theme is, you write a piece in a genre outside your usual mode. After trying heroic fantasy and post-apocalyptic, I went to espionage.
- The title is indeed a reference to the mostly defunct, early 1980's spy-themed T SR role-playing system. I think it's pretty arguable that a literary genre doesn't really exist unless it was instantiated as an RPG at some point in the 1980's.

Oh, very nicely done. I like that a lot.
enjoyed that very much.
Made me think of Stross' Halting State for some reason
You are my hero.
Very well done. My head instantly filled with the entire relationship these two people had. That is the mark of a good writer.
Oh, so it's not a reference to that film with Val Kilmer in by the writers of Airplane and Naked Gun? :P
Excellent work, I love bizarre paranoid shorts like this. It reminded me of that recent Spy video for Team Fortress 2...
May I just add though, as this is my first comment here, how much I really loved Soon I Will Be Invincible? I got it when it came out, loved it, just saw it on my bookshelf again now and thought "I gotta read that book again". So I'll probably get the paperback and bring it with me on holiday. That's TWO sales you got from me, Austin!
Please tell me they'll be a sequel or you're writing another book!
Incidentally, checked out your Wikipedia page... I knew you helped write Deus Ex, Thief, and System Shock, but dammit man, I didn't know you did Clive Barker's Undying too! That's four of my all-time Best Games Ever!
